Third party liability insurance of boat owners has become mandatory under the new Law on Compulsory Traffic Insurance.

All owners of self-propelled boats with the power exceeding 15kW, who are entered in the appropriate register according to the provisions on boat registration, are obliged to stipulate third party boat insurance.

Compulsory third party liability insurance of boat owners covers the liability for damage to third parties by use of a boat due to: death, bodily injury or health impairment

I n addition to compulsory third party liability insurance of boat owners, Dunav Insurance Company a.d.o. offers voluntary liability insurance of vessel owners. This insurance covers liability for the damage to third parties by use of a vessel which has resulted in the destruction of, or damage to objects.

The insurance is valid within the territorial limits of the Republic of Serbia, if not agreed otherwise.

Upon the adoption of the new law, registration of boats or renewal thereof will be possible only if the competent body is presented with the evidence of concluded compulsory third party liability insurance. The new law provides for penalties for boat owners without concluded compulsory third party liability insurance.
